SAP has launched its Connection Discovery for Public Services application to help civil servants to sense and predict emergencies in real time, resulting in significant improvements for emergency response, safety investigations and disaster management.

Running on the SAP HANA platform, this plug-and-play application is a network exploration tool that connects transactional data and report analysis tools to improve public safety. The application’s visualisations, designed to be user-friendly and intuitive, enable users to understand complex events more quickly and to react immediately to the unfolding situation.

“Connection Discovery is completing the picture by providing an advanced product for any type of user who needs to explore data relationships in real time in order to help save lives, reduce harm, track resources and minimise loss,” said Martin Klein, global head, public sector industry business unit, SAP.

“It will reveal previously unconsidered dynamics between people, objects, locations and events in a wide variety of scenarios,” he said.

The application provides a single comprehensive view of data from multiple systems and data sources to improve an organisation’s ability to discover and visualise patterns in connected networks. Planned features include seamless geodata integration and data enrichment on top of a mapping layer.

This application is expected to be one of the first industry solutions built on SAP HANA XS advanced (XSA), the completely re-engineered application server for native development of applications on the SAP HANA platform. In addition to significant architectural improvements achieved through microservices, SAP HANA XSA uses an identity provider for enhanced security.
