Melbourne-based development and consultancy services company Acclimation has won the ‘Demo Jam’ Award for innovation at the SAP TechEd 2010 conference in Las Vegas.
Acclimation demonstrated an example of an ‘incident management’ application in front of thousands of onlookers. The application example was based on HTML5 and creates an incident in the SAP ERP system without any software installation on the device. It is available online or offline and runs on any mobile device running an HTML5 compatible browser such as the Apple iPad, iPhone and Android.
The technology was developed by Alisdair Templeton, a member of the technical consultant team in Acclimation’s NetWeaver practice, and independent consulting Matt Harding.
The idea for the application stemmed from the growing use of the iPad in business and the increasing desire to extend the reach of the SAP system.
According to Acclimation, this innovative technology can be applied to almost any business process across all industry verticals.
“Using a standard web browser to access SAP from any device, from any location, and most importantly, offline, has never been done before. The possibilities for businesses running SAP are limitless,” Templeton said.
This honour caps off a winning streak for Acclimation, which recently took out the Best Innovation Award at the 2010 SAP Customer Excellence Awards (for its Digital Pen Solution for ASICS), and the ‘Australia’s Got Innovation’ award at the SAUG Summit, the largest SAP user event in the Asia Pacific region.
