Title: SAP and Open Text – The relationship explained…
Published by: Athol Hill, Stonebridge Systems
Abstract: As someone who has consulted extensively in the SAP Content Management area (SAP DMS, ArchiveLink etc) for a number of years, I found it fairly interesting that SAP has shifted their focus in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) space to Open Text. Not only have they started reselling Open Text, in some cases, they have chosen to rename their own products to avoid competing with Open Text. Some may consider this just another commercial agreement to help SAP generate more revenue, but I don’t think it’s as simple as that. SAP’s internal content management offering has always been quite strong in specific process areas so the question to ask is why SAP would suddenly head in a direction that does not fully encompass support of their own products? In this white paper, I’ve tried to identify some potential reasons for this shift in direction.
