Global advisory firm Information Services Group (ISG) has presented Wipro and Origin Energy with the ‘Best Sourcing Relationship in IT Outsourcing Award’ for 2014.
Origin began working with Wipro in December 2008 on a program to implement the SAP for Utilities solution portfolio and SAP Customer Relationship Management in its retail business.
When Origin acquired the retail businesses of Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy, increasing its end customers from 2.9 million to 4.3 million, Wipro assisted Origin to migrate all new customers to the SAP system successfully in October 2013, one year ahead of the original schedule with an accuracy rate of 99.9 per cent of the migrated data.
On the award, Olaf Pietschner, general manager for business transformation and technology, Origin Energy, said, “Wipro has been a key technology partner to Origin for a number of years and has assisted us with a range of SAP projects and application support. I’m delighted that our joint teams in India and Australia have been recognised for the great work they have done together.”
The awards were judged by Fiona Balfour, the former CIO of Qantas and Telstra, who said, “The Paragon Awards celebrate the power of partnership in the sourcing industry. These winning organisations work together every day to achieve great outcomes that lead to long-term business relationships and success. Their accomplishments deserve to be recognised, and we are delighted to shine a spotlight on them.”
Announcing the award for Origin and Wipro, she said, “The meter data program has resulted in one of the largest SAP implementations in the region. In terms of the sheer scale of this program, and the business benefits it delivered, this program is right up there.”
Other 2014 Paragon Award winners were Infosys and Transfield, for the Best Sourcing Relationship in Business Process Outsourcing; Tech Mahindra and NAB, for the Service Provider Innovation Excellence Award; and Unisys and New Zealand Traffic Authority, who received a Special Recognition Award.
