SAP Mobility Centre goes global

By Eleanor Reader

SAP has announced the globalisation of the SAP Mobility Centre in response to the increasing demand for custom-built mobile apps.

Currently based at the SAP campus in Palo Alto, California, operations at the SAP Mobility Centre will extend to corporate headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, as well as company offices in St. Ingbert, Germany; Montreal, Canada; and Bangalore, India.

“Companies want to increase workforce productivity by enabling them to make fast decisions at the point of action and bring value to their consumers by offering a delightful and engaging user experience,” said Sanjay Poonen, president, mobile division, SAP.

“As a leader in enterprise mobility, the SAP Mobility Design Centre fulfils a growing demand for custom-made mobile solutions and offers a smart and easy way for customers to unwire their business. Design thinking principles and innovative user experience techniques provide the end user with solutions that are intuitive to use, while our development methodologies help ensure full integration with the back-end environments.”

Customers are now able to visit SAP offices around the globe and collaborate with a team of experts composed of user experience (UX) designers, architects and developers.

The process includes designing mock-ups of the solution, which are then tested by end-users, then building the mobile solution to integrate smoothly with the existing back-end application and IT infrastructure.

Most apps developed at the centre are built on the SAP Mobile Platform.

The announcement was made at CeBIT 2013 in Hanover, Germany.
