SAP named revenue leader in Warehouse Management software

By Kirsten Wade

According to ARC Advisory Group’s ‘Warehouse Management Systems: Worldwide Outlook 2011-2016’, SAP now has the highest revenue among providers in the software segment.

The report includes market share estimates of warehouse management systems (WMS) and projections for 2011 to 2016 for the overall, software, services, maintenance and software-as-a-service (SaaS) categories. The categories were divided by geography, industry and customer segment.

“SAP’s breadth of language support along with global sales, support and implementation resources allows Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) to successfully serve markets where competitors are weaker,” the report said.

SAP EWM, which aims to improve warehouse efficiency and optimise workflows, was launched in 2006 and has recorded growth of 810 per cent between 2009 and 2011.

“SAP EWM has gained strong traction in the marketplace due to robust functionality, interoperability with the suite of SAP solutions and the large existing SAP installed base of potential customers,” the report said.
