International oil giant Shell recently outsourced SAP–based HR and payroll maintenance services to Accenture. Under an agreement signed in July 2011, Accenture will now provide application management services to support the company’s SAP HR and payroll systems.
Currently, about a quarter of Australia’s petroleum is supplied by Shell and the company has around 2000 employees in Australia. The company’s SAP HR and payroll systems are being used by 90,000 people in 60 countries, including Australia. The outsourced services will be provided through Accenture’s Global Delivery Network, using delivery centres in India and the Philippines.
Accenture’s application maintenance services will cover the functional areas of employee administration, self-service, environmental health, and payroll. As well as providing services such as application operations and monitoring, incident resolution and technical support, Accenture will also design and develop enhancements to applications.
Shawn Collinson, global client partner for Accenture’s work with Shell, commented on the benefits of using Accenture to support SAP applications, saying: “The breadth of our SAP managed service capabilities allows us to improve service levels, while reducing the costs and risks associated with rich and evolving application environments.”
“Our Global Delivery Network not only allows us to match the global footprint of multinational clients, but our centres are adaptable to respond to fast-changing customer requirements.”
