At the SAP TechEd event in Las Vegas, SAP partner and automation solution specialist Worksoft revealed its new process mining solution, designed to automatically discover business processes and generate functional tests from historical data in SAP software.

“With Worksoft process mining, companies will be able to achieve 100{db8ca4bbfe57dc8f9b6df9233a3a6c04f4968125edf9bb330d4f787c3a87cd09} regression test coverage for the vast number of SAP business process paths performed in their enterprise, because it extracts every historical data flow based on user behaviour. It’s a significant accelerator,” said Shoeb Javed, chief technology officer, Worksoft. “The capability to automatically create business process knowledge, documentation and functional testing assets can dramatically accelerate ROI and time-to-value for initial test automation.”

The solution will initially support key SAP components in the SAP ERP application, including sales and distribution, materials management and warehouse management, and works with the Worksoft Analyze automation software.

Melinda Ballou, program director for IDC’s Application Lifecycle Management and Executive Strategies Service, said leading companies seek to extract maximum value from core business process and transactional data.

“Large enterprises can greatly benefit from data mining and historical analysis that can help them quickly understand their business, generate analytics, optimise processes, and more rapidly produce test automation portfolios to help accelerate their success,” said Ballou.

For system integrators or business process analysts, the solution can help to understand a company’s business processes running in SAP software for optimisation or functional testing initiatives, while companies migrating to S/4 HANA or implementing upgrades can benefit from efficient comparison of SAP’s published best practice process paths with a company’s current business practices.
