The Federal Government Department of Human Services has chosen Accenture as the preferred tenderer for the system integration services for the next phase of the Welfare Payment Infrastructure Transformation Program.
The department will work with Accenture and other strategic partners to deliver key projects that significantly improve the way the government’s $100 billion in welfare payments are delivered each year, based on SAP systems.
The work by Accenture will include a new online user interface to make it easy for people to navigate the system, a new Payment Utility that will deliver payments to recipients faster using modern technology, and designing the end-state technology solution for future phases of the WPIT program.
The projects will run alongside work already underway as part of the WPIT Program to streamline and speed up the process of applying for and receiving welfare payments.
Minister for Human Services, Alan Tudge, said he was looking forward to “working with Accenture to deliver a truly modern welfare system, capable of providing Australians with simple and efficient digital services”.
Capgemini, Accenture, IBM and DXC Technology were all chosen as members of the WPIT Program systems integrator panel, and Accenture was selected as preferred tenderer following a competitive procurement process.
