Australian innovation wins the 2011 TechEd Demo Jam

SAP Australia has won first place at the SAP TechEd 2011 Demo Jam, which took place on 13 September in Las Vegas.

The winning project, Innoboard, was developed by a team from SAP Research Australia and presented by the project lead and research architect, Dr Marek Kowalkiewicz. Innoboard was selected as one of six finalists from a field of 200 submissions for the competition.

Previously known as the ‘Holodeck’ project, Innoboard is a mobile application that transforms any whiteboard or wall into an electronic whiteboard by using a smartphone and a projector. The technology enables participants to collaborate from different locations and brainstorm ideas, capture content from a meeting, and because it is integrated with SAP StreamWork, participants can save and access the results after a meeting.

The application is currently being tested and evaluated by Australian companies such as Linfox. The company will be using Innoboard when initially scoping and determining the direction of projects, as well as for strategy development. Linfox will also use the application for value stream mapping for projects that run across multiple sites.

The win marks the second year in a row the SAP TechEd DemoJam has been won by an Australian team, with Acclimation fielding a winning entry in 2010.
