Coke enter phase three of SAP project

By Nathan Dukes

Coca Cola Amatil (CCA) said today they we’re ready to move on to the third phase of their SAP business transformation project, titled OAisys.

Phase three is expected to include implementation of Sales & Order Management, Delivery and Mobility solutions as well as implementations in New Zealand and for Pacific Beverages, CCA said today in the full year financial results presentation.

Since 2008, Coca Cola Amatil has spent $46 million on the project, with a further $19m budgeted for the next two years.

CCA completed implementing phases one in 2008, and phase two in only October last year. Systems implemented already include Finance, HR, supply chain, payroll and CRM solutions.

CCA said the successful completion of the first two phases has improved customer service and efficiency, leading to greater customer intimacy. Importantly, the company was able to quickly adapt to the new system, with production and distribution levels in the first week post go-live similar if not higher than pre go-live levels.

“Around 10,000 customer orders (were) processed in first full week of operation, without any negative impact on customer service,’ CCA said.

The OAisys project also includes a new online self service customer centre, and an improved digital call centre platform.

Benefits of the project so far include a greater reliance on electronic ordering, with more than 75{db8ca4bbfe57dc8f9b6df9233a3a6c04f4968125edf9bb330d4f787c3a87cd09} of bulk orders — from customers like Woolworth Liqour, Big W, Coles, Caltex and BP — being received electronically.

The other key benefit is a colossal reduction in complexity. Before the project CCA was working with more than 120 separate legacy systems. When OAisys has been completed these will have been replaced by a single integrated SAP application.

CCA said there are also opportunities to leverage the OAisys system once the project has been completed. The company is currently exploring the possibilities of Indonesian & PNG implementations, and a food & services implementation.

Furthermore, the company is looking at the benefits of “One IT organisation” for the whole CCA Group, which includes beverage and food services and distribution organisations in ANZ and Indonesia.
