Turnkey Consulting develops SAP mobile security services

SAP security specialist Turnkey Consulting will offer new mobile-focused services to SAP customers, to tackle the rise in security risks faced by organisations as they use mobile devices to support everyday business activities.

Turnkey’s move is supported by the findings of the annual Threat Horizon report produced by the Information Security Forum (ISF), which identified mobile as one of the key issues for 2012*.

The new Turnkey offering will focus on:
• Mobility threat analysis;
• Application security for the mobile technology stack;
• Aligning mobile and back-end security to ensure consistent security for processes and data assets across multiple methods of access; and
• Strategies for mobile access to SAP Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) content.

In addition, Turnkey has developed a set of application security standards to provide organisations with best practice guidelines to help them to manage the risks presented by mobile devices.

Turnkey Consulting managing director Richard Hunt said that because smartphones were originally developed for consumer use, they are generally not secure enough for business requirements.

“Our new services are designed to fully address the challenge of securing mobile access to the organisation’s information assets. At the same time we are excited by the opportunity to help our customers to improve response times and flexibility through the use of SAP’s mobile applications for the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) toolset,” Hunt said.

Chris Haigh, chair of the SAP Audit, Controls and Security Special Interest Group (ACS SIG), supports this focus.

“Security of mobile devices is a great concern to many organisations, particularly those running SAP and it is something that the ACS SIG will be focussing on in 2012.”
