Ex-Microsoft exec joins SAP as CTO

Seven months after the departure of Vishal Sikka, SAP has announced it has filled the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) chair, with the hire of Quentin Clark, effective November 10.

Clark comes to SAP from Microsoft, where he served as corporate vice president, Microsoft Data Platform Group.

“I am very pleased to have Quentin join SAP,” said Bernd Leukert, member of the Executive Board, SAP SE.

“He is not only an impressive technologist who thrives on pursuing a meaningful vision, but at the same time a passionate leader. He enjoys taking a full view of business, technology, product, team and customers. I am sure that Quentin will significantly contribute to shaping and executing our technology strategy and turning opportunities into innovation – and help our customers to Run Simple.” “

Sikka, the driving force behind SAP’s signature HANA software solution, resigned in early May. He remained on the sidelines until August 1, when he was announced as the CEO of Infosys. Since then, five senior executives from SAP have left their positions to join Sikka at Infosys.

At Microsoft, Clark’s most recent responsibility was the design and delivery of the company’s data platform products, including the Azure Data Platform.

Clark will be based in the SAP Palo Alto, California office. Prior to his time as a vice president with Microsoft, he had held several different positions for the company’s development unit since 1994.
