Extend launches commodity trading solution

Extend Technologies has launched myCommTrade in Australia and New Zealand to enable commodity trading in SAP ECC6.

Designed for the commodities industry, the ANZ release is provided with industry master data, interfaces to all major bulk handling and logistics companies and industry specific interfaces.

“We harness the power of SAP in inventory management, finance, sales and procurement and logistics, and extend that to simplify the process for users,” said Jacqueline Gabb, agri solution architect, Extend Technologies.

The SAP-based solution uses SAP’s Commodity Solution Platform and allows for fully integrated real-time deal sheets and ticketing. It also enables contract life-cycle management, ticket management, logistic planning, delivery cost management, stock management, counterparty management and risk management, paper trades and foreign exchange.

Gabb said data integrity and early visibility are the main issues facing commodity traders in the agri industry, and this solution seeks to address those issues.

“Managers want to know what their commitments are to ensure they have sufficient coverage and to mitigate risk,” said Gabb.

“Our motto is ‘get in early’ – a transaction sitting on a piece of paper on someone’s desk doesn’t allow any visibility. The sooner the data is entered, the better visibility within reports; fewer errors up front, the less time spent on analysing and correcting the data and the more accurate the reports.”
