From financial services to natural resources

CSC has led recent SAP projects for clients in a wide range of industries – from full upgrades to targeted BI and mobility projects. For more information on any of these projects, contact CSC.

Client: Water Corporation of Western Australia
Challenge: To extract the relevant data from an increasing number of business transactions and management systems to make timely strategic decisions.
Solution: To upgrade to the SAP BI 7.0 business intelligence platform to avoid additional cost and to enable access to improved functionality.
Results: A huge reduction in time to extract data to the new BI system, with load times falling by up to 60 per cent, so that data is available the following day for timely decision-making. A clear roadmap for further improvement opportunities.

Client: Superpartners
Challenge: With the organisation growing in size and complexity, financial systems struggled to support the need for regular, complete and timely financial reporting.  Solution: Superpartners embarked on a major change program, engaging CSC to deliver an enterprise financial system using SAP’s new generation BusinessObjects Business Planning and Consolidation for NetWeaver (BPC) modelling tool.
Results: A scalable and expanding business planning platform which will support planned future growth.

Client: DuPont’s Chemical Solutions
Enterprise strategic business unit
Challenge: DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise (DCSE) needed to change its business processes to match best practices used by other DuPont SAP deployments. It needed to roll out SAP without losing an order or stopping the systems.
Solution: Organisational change management techniques that brought DuPont business people into the process and detailed transition plans that made sure nothing fell through the cracks.
Results: An SAP deployment with high involvement from users and better visibility into inventory for planning.

Client: Water Corporation of Western
Australia
Challenge: To apply the experience gained from an earlier mobile computing solution (MCS1), no longer available to support next generation PDA devices, and upgrade to a new platform bringing far more business value, seamlessly without significant interruption to its business processes.  Solution: The new mobile computing solution, Fieldworks (Fieldworks is based on SkyMobile, a leading SAP mobility platform from Sky Technologies), a result of the integration of a number of specialist technologies and capabilities to provide a full mobile computing environment that will allow it to consolidate mobile applications and expand its reach into other business initiatives.  Results: Water Corporation’s new mobility solution, Fieldworks, has far reaching effects for customer service and water conservation across Western Australia.

Client: Department of Defence
Challenge: To extend the 2007 SAP upgrade and deploy the latest in SAP technology, NewGL, to capture additional accounting elements for online reporting.  Solution: With CSC’s extensive ERP and systems integration experience in the Defence environment, the Cash Flow Reporting solution was developed in conjunction with SAP.
Results: By go-live in November 2008, the project had run on time and on budget, without business disruption or major outages. The Cash Flow solution, which allows Defence to report expenditure on line, was the first implementation of this software in the world. The NewGL upgrade was the first implementation in the public sector.

Client: INPEX
Challenge: The budgeting process was time-consuming, inefficient and potentially error-prone, and management and control of the process was reliant on a few individuals.  Solution: CSC and INPEX designed and planned the project to develop and implement a suitable SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) solution for deployment to the relevant INPEX business users in time for the 2011 budgeting cycle.
Results: INPEX has now used BPC successfully for a full budget cycle and has recorded significant time savings as well as reduced cycle times, higher visibility during the budget process of the key metrics/levers which drive cost, and increased efficiency through the ability to recalculate when assumptions change and perform ‘what ifs’.
