HANA for SMEs

By Anne Widjaja

SAP has announced two new offerings to help small businesses and midsize enterprises (SMEs) harness the power of SAP HANA – SAP HANA, Edge edition and HANA-driven analytics for SAP Business One.

The product currently in development for SAP Business One users aims to provide businesses with a special product version and new combination of SAP HANA platforms for small business needs. The channel-only solution will give users with a small-scale, easy-to-use SAP HANA-based application that includes SAP Crystal Reports software. Ramp-up is planned to begin at the end of February, with general availability planned for later in 2012.

“Analytics powered by SAP HANA for SAP Business One will offer customers the flexibility to create interactive reports and run ad-hoc analysis faster than before,” said Ketan Solanki, consulting manager, Evolution Future Solutions Pty Ltd, an Australian SAP channel partner delivering SAP Business One.

Solanki said that another major advantage of the product is the user’s ability to use the freestyle search function, which can deliver almost instant relevant results. The search can also equip users “with the ability to navigate through various business objects from SAP Business One, without having to move from screen to screen… in the current cockpit”.

The second product, SAP HANA, Edge edition, is an indirect offering created specifically for reselling in the midmarket, targeted at customers that are already running the SAP Business All-in-One solution. An additional value bundle will be offered to customers that purchase SAP BusinessObjects Edge Business Intelligence (BI) software.

SAP HANA, Edge edition is now globally available via enabled and authorised partners.

Dr Vishal Sikka, member of the SAP Executive Board, Technology and Innovation Platform, SAP AG, commented on the future for SAP HANA and the benefits of its adoption for SMEs.

“SAP HANA enables nearly 80 per cent of our customers, which are small and midsize businesses, to bring together structured and unstructured data analysis from any source, as well as transactional applications and analytics, in a single highly scalable, elastic infrastructure for real-time computing.

“Together with our ecosystem partners, we are excited about SAP HANA delivering unprecedented performance improvements to businesses without compromise.”
