Plaut IT Australia ACT manager Tammy Ven Dange has won the Leoni Warne Women in ICT Award. The Award, which recognises the contribution of women in the ICT industry and is awarded on merit, was presented at the recent ACS conference in Canberra.

“The Award is a very personal award and is not given lightly,” said Adrian Armitage, manager of ACS. “It is based on a 360 degree review where peers, advisors, and people in the community are asked about the contributions a potential candidate has made.”

Prior to joining Plaut, Ven Dange worked as project manager for NASA for the first major US government SAP implementation of its time. She is also currently the president of Women in Information and Communication (WIC), a volunteer organisation based in Canberra that champions women in ICT.

“Tammy’s contribution to women in IT and the IT industry overall has been outstanding – she exemplifies the qualities we seek to recognise and we congratulate her on the award,” Armitage said.

Plaut CEO Mark Alder echoed this sentiment, saying he is pleased Ven Dange’s contributions have been recognised.

“Tammy’s contribution to women in the IT industry has been outstanding. Her tireless work in educating school children about the possibilities and career pathways available to women in IT are assisting to change the mindset of future generations and enhance the accessibility of the industry.”

The Award is named in honour of Leonie Warne who was passionate about the information systems discipline and the promotion of the role of women in IT. The award was established by the AAIS, ACS and ACPHIS to honour Warne’s contributions to IT.
