NetWeaver named leader in application infrastructure market

The SAP NetWeaver technology platform has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of a recent Gartner report on infrastructure products for systematic application integration.

The report, titled ‘Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Systematic Application Integration Projects’, examined the 7.3 version of the NetWeaver platform.

The report assessed products in this technology space on their ability to offer a “comprehensive ESB suite integrating that offering with other relevant technologies”. Vendors were also evaluated on how their “road-map addressed emerging requirements such as cloud/SaaS integration”.

The report also compared the strength of vendors’ commitment to the market, expressed through “focused value propositions and go-to market strategies” and “support for the most relevant industry standards”.

Bjorn Goerke, SAP executive vice president, technology and innovation platform core, said the company was “delighted” about the result.

“We believe it acknowledges the very good progress and strong adoption of SAP NetWeaver Process Orchestration and SAP NetWeaver Gateway and the platform as a whole,” Goerke said.

Georke also commented that SAP NetWeaver’s success confirmed that service-oriented architecture patterns are capable of becoming mainstream and allowing for different implementation styles.

“We will continue to co-innovate with customers and partners to expand the value and footprint of SAP NetWeaver further along with SAP HANA and into the cloud,” Georke said.
