ANZ has named former Citigroup executive Scott Collary as chief information officer.
Collary will be based in Melbourne, and report to ANZ Group chief operating officer Alistair Currie.
At Citigroup, Collary has held the role of chief information officer, consumer, North America and global cards since 2008, where he was responsible for all aspects of consumer banking technology. During this time, Collary led large transformation programs at Citigroup North America, significantly simplified products and introduced a ‘digital first’ technology strategy.
Previously Collary held senior roles with US regional bank Fifth Third and Bank of America.
Commenting on the appointment, Currie said, “We are pleased to have an executive of Scott’s caliber join ANZ. He brings with him a track record in leading large, global teams and driving a culture that is innovative and customer-centric.
“Scott has particular experience in leading large-scale digital technology programs and will have a key leadership role in continuing ANZ’s transformation to become the most compelling, most convenient and easiest bank to use for all customers whether big, small, retail or corporate,” he said.
Collary is expected to commence at ANZ in early December. He replaces Anne Weatherstone, who stepped down from the role in April this year.
ANZ will launch new mobile and internet banking platforms based on SAP by the end of 2014.
