The Commonwealth Government Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) has advertised the role of Chief Information Officer, leading the department’s Information division.

ITnews has reported that Joann Corcoran had acting in the role since 2013, when former CIO Jane Bailey stepped down.

The AGD has undertaken a significant SAP transformation in recent years, including the installation of a paperless AP system, and an implementation of SAP Disclosure Management (covered in an Inside SAP case study here).

According to the job advertisement, the CIO will be responsible for around 80 staff and an operating budget of around $18 million. Following the consolidation of the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) into the AGD from 1 July this year, the CIO will also “have strategic responsibility for maximising synergies between the existing AGD ICT platform and the incoming AGS ICT platform”.

According to ITnews, the AGD is just one of several Federal Government departments on the hunt for new leaders, alongside the Australian Taxation Office, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Secret Intelligence Service, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, and the Australian Crime Commission.
