On the Move: Ruthven appointed COO of SAP ANZ

SAP has appointed John Ruthven as chief operating officer (COO) of SAP Australia and New Zealand.

Ruthven joined SAP in January as regional lead for cloud and line of business solutions across SAP Asia Pacific Japan.

In his new role, he is responsible for SAP’s local presales, industry value engineering and sales operations teams, and will continue to drive cloud momentum with customers in Australia and New Zealand by optimising local operations for as-a-service offerings.

“In today’s complex world, SAP is committed to helping our customers simplify to improve performance and customer engagement,” said Andrew Barkla, president and managing director, SAP Australia and New Zealand.

“As more and more Australian and New Zealand organisations move to the cloud, our solutions powered by SAP HANA are a key part of this simplification. John Ruthven’s appointment will ensure we continue our course as an open co-innovator to better serve organisations as they transition to the cloud.”

Ruthven has more than 20 years’ experience in the IT industry, in local, regional and global functions across management and sales operations, including as senior vice president of International Sales at Zuora Inc and General Manager of Emerging Markets at CA Technologies.

SAP ANZ’s former COO, Greg Miller, took on the role of local head of SAP’s new Global Partner Operations (GPO) organisation in May.
