SAP SE has created the new role of chief digital officer, and appointed former chief marketing officer Jonathan Becher to the position to lead the company’s new digital business unit.
Becher, who has been with SAP since 2007, is tasked with expanding SAP’s addressable market through entry into new areas such as content and data.
“Jonathan will not only be responsible for building a major new revenue stream for the company, he will also make Run Simple a reality for customers and consumers that engage with us digitally,” said Bill McDermott, CEO, SAP.
One of the first priorities for the new business unit will be to combine SAP’s existing online stores into one new SAP Store, where buyers can access software, services, education and content offerings.
Maggie Chan Jones steps into Becher’s shoes as chief marketing officer. She joins SAP from Level 3 Communications, but previously spent seven years at Microsoft Corporation. Jones has extensive experience with cloud, with her team leading the launch and implementation of the Microsoft Office 365 business in the United States, and launching Microsoft’s first cloud productivity offerings with global partners. She will be based in New York City.
