On the Move: SAP executive Mike Smith joins UXC Oxygen

SAP solutions and cloud provider UXC Oxygen has lured SAP consulting director Mike Smith from the US to take up the position of practice manager – Wellington.

Smith’s appointment is the latest in a series for UXC Oxygen’s New Zealand arm, as the country’s SAP market experiences a surge in growth. He will be responsible for the overall management of UXC Oxygen customer projects in the greater Wellington region and throughout the South Island.

UXC Oxygen general manager, New Zealand, Paul Mihaljevich, said the appointment is “a feather in the cap” for the company.

“Mike is a proven executive leader with a broad background in information technology consulting. He has an extensive ‘top tier’ software vendor background with a track record of building strong relationships, leading cohesive, high-performance teams, and driving operational excellence. He has particular expertise in selling and supporting the full lifecycle of SAP solutions to public sector organisations.

“We are delighted to have Mike on board and look forward to him working closely with our other recent business manager appointee, Lloyd O’Keefe, to further strengthen our business development efforts and service the growing demand for SAP solutions in the region,” Mihaljevich said.

Smith said he is excited to be working for an organisation he has followed from afar.

“UXC Oxygen has an excellent reputation in the market and within SAP. I respect how it has developed over the last 15 years and I am highly motivated to help the company achieve its growth and solution delivery objectives.”

Prior to joining UXC Oxygen, Smith worked for six years as a consulting director for SAP in the US, responsible for the full portfolio of services and sales functions for the South East region. During this time Smith worked on a number of significant US state tax and revenue management (TRM) implementation projects. Before that he had senior practice director roles with both Siebel and PeopleSoft in the US.
