SAP AG has announced its intention to acquire software and assets from datango AG, a leading provider of workforce performance and support software.
The datango solution provides content development, translation and deployment capabilities for electronic training, documentation and user support. The acquisition is intended to broaden SAP’s education software portfolio and will further enable datango to develop valuable integration with other SAP tools.
Headquartered in Berlin, datango was founded in 1999 and has already had a long-standing relationship with SAP. Software by datango has already been successfully deployed in the SAP Business ByDesign solution.
Along with existing SAP offerings in the education software space, the datango Electronic Performance Support (EPSS) solution can be used to help SAP customers lower their total cost of ownership (TCO), facilitate end-user enablement in a scalable way and accelerate end-user adoption.
Together, SAP and datango are also working to capitalise on current trends in education software marketplace, by creating applications that contain tools for authors, such as e-collaboration, along with self-help scenarios and auto-teaching functions.
“The workforce performance tools market has become increasingly strategic and critical to our customers’ success, and datango is a proven leader in this space,” said Markus Schwarz, senior vice president and global head of SAP Education.
“By having its own product in this market, SAP can now deliver and accelerate innovations and produce robust content for our customers in the future.”
The transaction should close in the first quarter of 2012.
