SAP and Samsung to make Androids enterprise-secure

By Eleanor Reader

SAP has joined forces with Samsung to make mobile devices running the Android operating system more secure for enterprise use.

The partnership works to address the management and security concerns commonly faced by enterprises using Samsung Android devices.

At the Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced its next collaboration with SAP; Samsung KNOX, an end-to-end secure solution that provides security hardening from the hardware through to the application layer.

The solution will build on the foundation of the SAFE Certification and provide users enhanced security at all levels of the Android platform.

SAP is Samsung’s largest SAFE-certified partner, announcing that its SAP Afaria mobile device management solution has achieved an expanded SAFE security certification.

Having co-developed SAFE APIs, SAP supports more SAFE features than any other vendor and has the largest SAFE Samsung Android deployments globally.

According to SAP, the benefits of managing Samsung devices through SAP Afaria include unified management of multiple device models, streamlined installation of email accounts and enhanced security policies, including application white/blacks and SD card enablement/encryption.

Samsung’s focus on providing mobile devices that meet the security requirements of companies is part of its initiative to sell more Android devices to big businesses.
