SAP ANZ targets NSW skills shortage with new TAFE partnership

Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE (NSIT) has become the latest in a long line of skills providers to strike up a partnership with SAP Australia and New Zealand.

NSIT is one of New South Wales’ largest TAFEs, and will be the first in the state to offer the online, self-paced courses as a part of SAP’s uAcademy, a skills-based learning program targeted at business and IT students.

Aroon Wadvani, Education Channel Manager, SAP ANZ, says the company has seen increased demand from employers in recent years for employees with enterprise application skills.

“Professionals with SAP skills are in high demand across the country in both business and government. But despite the appetite, the number of students who are graduating from universities and TAFE’s who understand the business value of enterprise software is comparably low,” he said.

“Working in partnership with NSIT, we are aiming to equip students with the skills that we know employers are asking for.”

The program offers pre-existing, online SAP training courses that better equip students with basic to advanced SAP skills with content and related support provided by SAP Education, the company stated in a press release.

The SAP uAcademy courses offer digital content added to the ability to interact with SAP software and live training systems to reinforce lessons. Students will also be equipped with the knowledge to sit SAP Associate Certification.

SAP has forged similar partnerships with Brisbane North Institute TAFE, University of Queensland and University of Technology Sydney.

NSIT Institute Director, Kevin Harris, says this program will give students the opportunity to be work ready when they finish their diploma or degree.

“We are very excited about this partnership and have already started to up skill and will certify six of our teachers in the SAP product suite so they can support our students,” he said.

“Working with SAP we aim to introduce a much needed set of SAP skills into the marketplace and give students both a head start and enhancement to their careers in SAP related roles.”
