SAP OEM partnerships boost APJ growth

SAP’s growth in Asia-Pacific Japan continues to sky-rocket with the latest announcement that its Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) business for the region in 2012 grew 86 per cent year-on-year.

Its OEM APJ partner base expanded by 25 per cent, with partners such as CleanPoint (Australia), Cogniscient Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (India), Huawei (China), Inteltion (Thailand), ND Software (Japan) and Quanta Computer (Taiwan) signing OEM partnership deals with SAP in 2012.

“We saw increasing momentum in our ecosystem and channels business and had amazing growth performance in 2012 in Asia Pacific Japan in the OEM space,” said Bronwyn Hastings, senior vice president, ecosystem and channels, SAP Asia Pacific Japan.

“More and more partners are adopting our mobility platform, driven by Afaria and Sybase Unwired Platform. Others are choosing SQL Anywhere embedded database, Sybase ASE database, Sybase IQ and SAP HANA. We are very excited by the ways OEM partners are innovating in their own markets by embedding SAP technology into their products to deliver more end-user benefits.”

Hastings added, “Our customers want to work with an ecosystem of a market leader. This is why we invite new business relationships through OEM engagements. SAP is a secure and established vendor with an extensible software platform that partners prefer.”

“SAP OEM partners and their customers are able to embed SAP’s platform solutions ‘everywhere’ into their products and services, enabling their customers to run better. By 2015, we plan to attract one million developers to our platforms and to generate at least 40 per cent software revenue from partners in the APJ region.”
