SAP has introduced new and updated features to the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite designed to make it easier for HR leaders to meet the data protection and privacy compliance requirements of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) taking effect in May.
“We’re committed to helping customers adhere to data protection and privacy regulations, and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of their data in our highly regulated world,” said Greg Tomb, president, SAP SuccessFactors.
“With GDPR now on the horizon, we’re supporting customers in their compliance journey by providing tools that not only help them comply with these laws, and thereby avoid losses and exposure to fines, but also improve governance. Most important, we are helping organisations create value by earning and sustaining trust with employees and candidates,” said Tomb.
The updates include a number of features designed to protect sensitive employee, candidate and customer data, in the areas of consent management, data blocking, data subject information reporting and data purge.
The consent management feature can be used throughout the consent process to configure and manage consent statements and acceptance. The data blocking feature enables multiple levels of access to historical personal data, enabling tiered access privileges.
The data subject info reporting feature enables the generation of a report containing all the personal data for an individual that exists across an organisation’s SAP SuccessFactors solutions. This feature supports an individual’s right to know what personal information is being stored by the organisation at any time.
The data purge feature permanently deletes data once there is no longer a legal reason to keep it, reducing an organisation’s risk of noncompliance and data breaches as well as meeting the requirements of some data protection and privacy laws, including the GDPR. This feature enables the organisation to define location-specific data retention regulations to meet the needs of specific countries and industries.
