All the latest SAP announcements from Day One of SAPPHIRE NOW.

The SAP HANA Cloud Platform is here

Building on the announcement of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud last week, SAP is taking real-time and the cloud even further with the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

The real-time platform will be the foundation for the entire SAP cloud portfolio, including line-of-business cloud applications, the cloud-enabled Ariba Network, social collaboration solutions, and a managed cloud environment for SAP HANA, the company stated.

“Our message to customers is simple: you can have your cloud, your way in real time, with a beautiful user experience, from the trusted leader in enterprise business solutions. With the new SAP HANA Cloud Platform as the foundation for all of our offerings, we are proud to be the trusted innovator to accelerate business value in the cloud,” said Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-CEOs of SAP AG.

SAP sets its sights on the sports and entertainment industry

SAP has been carving out major partnerships with big names the sports industry since 2012, so it was no surprise that Cco-CEO Bill McDermott was joined on stage by the commissioner of the NBA and CEO of the San Francisco 49ers to announce the SAP for Sports and Entertainment solution portfolio.

Examples of portfolio include scouting solutions for professional sports franchises, gaining insights from big data to enhance on-field performance, two-way dialogue between teams and fan through statistical insights and fantasy initiatives, more access to information for the media and better streamlined logistical and revenue operations for major events, venues and concert promoters.

“The world-class organisations represented on stage at SAPPHIRE NOW today – and many more across the world – are embracing the value that breakthrough technologies such as SAP HANA, the SAP Cloud portfolio and advanced CRM and ticketing can bring to the fan experience,” said McDermott.

SAP announces new mobile portfolio and partnership

SAP has launched SAP Mobile Secure, an enterprise mobility management solution portfolio designed to provide customers with enterprise-grade security for devices, apps and content.

The portfolio includes a new software-as-a-service (Saas) solution, the cloud edition of the SAP Afaria mobile device management solution, which allows customers to manage mobile devices for one Euro per month per device in the cloud, powered by Amazon Web Services.

The portfolio also focuses on security challenges enterprises face, such as BYOD, by enabling security of the device, apps and content for mobile devices, including iOS, Windows and Android devices.

“With SAP Mobile Secure, we want to make it easy for CIOs to bring comprehensive mobile security to all layers of their mobile infrastructure at the lowest TCO possible. The SAP Mobile Secure solution portfolio is integrated with the SAP Mobile Platform, allowing developers to build in security at the right time,” said Sanjay Poonen, president of Technology Solutions and the Mobile Division, SAP.

Part of this portfolio is the SAP Mobile App Protection solution by Mocana, following SAP’s announced partnership with the global security startup.

The partnership with Mocana is forecasted to help customers expedite deployment of secure mobile apps, especially in highly regulated industries such as financial services, retail, healthcare and government, SAP stated.
