SAP plans to extend their app portfolio with six new SAP mobile apps for Windows 8, the company said yesterday at SAPPHIRE NOW + SAP TechEd Madrid.
The new apps aim to take advantage of the touch capability and features of the new Windows user interface, enabling users to easily interact with SAP data on various devices, according to SAP.
SAP will also offer future support for Windows 8 development on the SAP Mobile Platform (as the Sybase Unwired Platform will now be known), as well as security enhancements to the SAP Afaria mobile device management solution.
The mobile apps include:
• SAP WorkDeck, providing a role-based view which allows employees and managers to initiate and process workflows on the go, such as travel, leave and purchasing requests.
• SAP Manager Insight, an employee profile app that provides managers with access to key HR indicators.
• SAP Learning Assistant, an app providing on-demand, online training.
• SAP Interview Assistant, an app which assists in the management of the interview process when recruiting.
• SAP Customer Financial Fact Sheet, a customer profile app for account executives to access financial data, invoices and critical sales orders in real time.
• SAP GRC Policy Survey, an employee policy app.

The mobile apps are planned to be available for download in both the Windows Store and SAP Store.
