In a bid to expand the range of enterprise mobility solutions leveraging the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP), SAP has partnered with Sky Technologies to jointly develop and manage new solutions.
Sky brings its innovative Secure Container to the partnership, which provides encryption, identity management, data profiling and true configure-once, deploy-anywhere capability, and will provide SAP customers with business mobility applications which can be accessed via the container.
Running on iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows, the Secure Container will offer robust interface management from within the SAP environment, ensuring total visibility and end-to-end management of all SAP transactions from a central dashboard. According to Sky and SAP, other solutions in the SAP Mobility suite will help Sky to further extend its offering, with SAP Gateway providing a secure application server to simplify integration with SAP back-end applications.
Sky Technologies also plans to deploy mobile device and application management solution, Sybase Afaria, to extend its device administration competencies with a range of security capabilities such as locking or wiping a device.
According to SAP and Sky, combining SAP’s software offering and Sky extensions in this way will enable businesses to align their mobile strategy with SAP and utilise Sky’s expertise in the development and implementation of robust mobile applications.
Troy O’Connor, CEO of Sky Technologies, said, “It’s exciting to see our product roadmap, which embraces technology from both Sybase and SAP, aligning with SAP’s mobility strategy. As a long-time SAP partner, our customers have seen the value that we’ve been able to deliver.
“Now, with the SUP platofrm we can develop applications and offer customers mobility solutions that are secure, mobile and cloud based. End users will now have access to a rich user interface with integrated native and web based applications which are synchronised automatically and populated with data that is stored and transmitted securely.”
