At SAP TechEd && d-code, held last week in Berlin, SAP announced s-innovations, new solutions built on HANA aimed at the line of business.
According to SAP, s-innovation will help customers “drive their digital and cloud transformations” by removing business and IT complexity in the areas of consumption, user adoption, business decision-making and execution.
S-innovations will be offered via public cloud (SaaS), managed cloud and on-premise. They leverage the SAP Fiori user experience and the multi-tenant functionality of SAP HANA 9 (more on this release below), to enable IT departments to deploy modular innovations with easy onboarding.
The SAP Simple Finance solution was the first step in the s-innovations roadmap, providing a simple approach to complex finance processes. Other s-innovations are planned to focus on essential business scenarios in finance, customer engagement and commerce, procurement project services and inventory management. The range will also include cloud solutions from Ariba and SuccessFactors.
SAP said it will continue to extend the scope of the s-innovations portfolio in 2015, and promised that SAP Business Suite customers would also be able to take advantage of s-innovations.
The latest release of SAP HANA, support pack 9, includes innovations such as:
- Multi-tenancy, to simplify provisioning and management of multiple database workloads on premise and in the cloud.
- Dynamic tiering to help cost-effectively manage very large data sets, and provide streamlined and transparent access to critical data.
- Smart data integration and quality to simplify data provisioning, transformations, cleansing and enrichment.
- Integrated smart data streaming to process and analyse massive amounts of data in real time.
- High-performance, ACID-compliant graph storage and engine capabilities, which can be used to process enterprise data or highly interconnected social network and supply chain data.
- User defined functions for SAP HANA for Hadoop, which enables HANA to access map reduce jobs within Hadoop directly.
