The UK and Ireland SAP User Group (UKISUG) has raised concerns over the potential pricing of the SAP Leonardo portfolio.

In an interview with Computerworld UK, new UKISUG chairman Paul Cooper said the group wants to ensure that the complexities around indirect licensing – typified by the court case against UK customer Diageo – are not repeated with Leonardo.

“We would caution SAP on its licensing approach in this area,” Cooper told Computerworld UK. “Hopefully Leonardo is not an area where it suddenly becomes very complex and difficult to understand and puts people off because of that commercial complexity.”

Cooper said that members of the user group will also want to see customer use cases over the next year, to demonstrate value.

“Seeing other people demonstrate it other than a consultant or an SAP person is the key for us,” said Cooper.

Though SAP Leonardo was initially an Internet of Things platform, SAP announced an expansion of the brand to encompass all digital innovation portfolio.
