Youth engagement with ICT target of SAP/Thinq partnership

Seeking to support education providers in encouraging more young people to consider digital and ICT careers, SAP ANZ has partnered with youth education and employment consultancy, Thinq Group.

Through the partnership, Thinq Group will focus on channelling Australia’s growing interest in Young ICT Explorers, a not-for-profit youth technology challenge founded by SAP and offered to schools at no cost to encourage students to create their best digital projects, to scale participation from parents, teachers and students.

Thinq will also support SAP in scaling up its other young education programs with local corporate social responsibility partners, The Smith Family and Australian Indigenous Education Foundation.

“Together with a growing list of industry and education advocates, SAP believes we can make a significant and lasting difference in Australia’s talent landscape, taking on both youth unemployment and a widening ICT skills gap,” said John Ruthven, president and managing director, SAP Australia and New Zealand.

“Now with the support of Thinq Group, we are ready to scale on the foundation of a proven platform – of engaging youth early, often and meaningfully with technology and work experience.”

“Industry and school engagement is a critical element of ensuring that young people are made aware of their post-school training and employment options so that they achieve their career goals,” said Thinq Group managing director Daniela Ascone.

“I commend SAP for their leadership in providing free programs like Young ICT Explorers to schools and young people to promote STEM pathways. We look forward to working collaboratively with SAP and partners to bridge the STEM attraction gap and tackle youth unemployment by promoting careers in ICT.”
