TIK Consulting has released a new solution which gives users an analysis of the impact SAP support packs will have on your system.
Support Pack Analysis Lite is a tool which reviews SAP support packs, and provides an analysis of what impact the packs will have on the system post upgrade.
TIK said the solution allows you to have thorough analysis of the impact of SAP support packs each month, ready for you to refer to when defining your testing strategy for support pack implementation.
Spencer Kewin from TIK Consulting says doing the process manually can introduce a number of issues.
“Depending on who’s (looking after the upgrade) and the quality of the consultant; they could miss things, the notes that SAP supply aren’t always clear. These sorts of things introduce risk,” Spencer said
Spencer said the tool can reduce risk by automating the process, and also ensure it is completed quickly.
“Once you’ve configured it to suit you particular needs, the running time to analyse 20 or 30 support packs is about one or two minutes, as opposed to having a consultant sit there for two weeks.”
“Because the tool analyses what SAP delivers, you can’t miss anything. You’re going to have a view of exactly what’s being hit, regardless of what’s in the notes,” Spencer said.
As the name suggests, Support Pack Analysis Lite is a basic version of the fully customisable Support Pack Analysis software.
Where the full version is more suited to big customers who have made serious alterations away from the standard SAP, Spencer said the lite version appeals to customers who have SAP systems with few customisations.
When users run Support Pack Analysis Lite module, they are provided with detailed impact analysis of the selected support packs, broken into the functional areas within SAP HCM.
TIK specialise in HCM, and Support Pack Analysis from TIK is configured for use with SAP HCM, but the tool can be used with all modules and features of SAP.
