Melbourne-based Discovery Consulting, together with co-innovation partners EnterpriseJungle, SAP Global Delivery and SuccessFactors, has released the first consumer SuccessFactors extension in the world.
EnterpriseJungle for SuccessFactors was built as a HANA Cloud Platform extension with integration into SAP Jam.
The extension provides a way to harness the expertise and knowledge that exists in large enterprises but can be difficult to identify beyond the bounds of an employee’s personal network within the company.
As a social discovery tool, Enterprise Jungle for SuccessFactors pulls together data from SuccessFactors or other on-premise HCM or learning solutions, unstructured data sources such as other company databases, internal collaboration platforms such as SAP Jam or Jive and external sites such as LinkedIn to enhance employee profiles and identify the most appropriate talent or expert within the organisation for an identified need.
Chris Paine, principal technical consultant for Discovery Consulting, said the solution not only finds people with the skills the employee is seeking – for example, a Javascript programmer – but shows how closely they are connected, and starts a workflow to introduce them.
“It’s about increasing the connectivity within the workplace, and making people more social. We hear social is going to solve all our problems within the workplace, but the problem is you can’t be social unless you actually know someone, so that’s the problem that this tool is trying to solve,” Paine said.
Enterprise Jungle originally created a social discovery tool based on an on-premise HANA system, and teamed up with Discovery to bring it into a cloud environment via a SuccessFactors extension.
The solution was showcased at SAPPHIRE NOW in June, as an example of a successful partner enhancement for SAP’s solutions.
“The SuccessFactors area is one of the first areas which is getting this enhanceability through extensions, but the idea is that this will be applied across all of SAP’s cloud properties,” Paine said.
