On the Move: Fairfax appoints new CIO

By Freya Purnell
Former Foxtel Australia chief information officer (CIO) Robyn Elliott has been appointed as Fairfax Media’s new CIO.

Elliott will take up the role from 23 March, replacing Andrew Lam-Po-Tang, who has held the role for three years.

Elliott was Foxtel’s CIO for 12 years, and prior to this, held the role of principal, customer relationship management and business intelligence at IBM Global Services Australia. She also served as CIO at McIntosh Securities/Merrill Lynch in Australia and as a partner at Accenture.

On the appointment, Fairfax Media CEO Greg Hywood said Elliott brings a highly commercial perspective, a track record delivering major change initiatives, and “is a champion of using data to deliver better outcomes for customers”.

Hywood also thanked Lam-Po-Tang for his work as CIO/CTO.

“Andrew has been a powerful force for achieving transformation at Fairfax. We are grateful for the immense contribution he has made to the re-making of Fairfax as a truly next-generation media business.”

Elliott said she is excited to be leading “the next wave of technology innovation for Fairfax”.

“Andrew and his team have done great work in developing the technology capabilities of the organisation. I look forward to taking these capabilities to the next level, using technology and data to drive even deeper levels of customer engagement and process improvement,” Elliott said.
