New SAP certification services released

By Freya Purnell

SAP has launched two complementary services to provide more information about the certification status of consultants.

With more than 350,000 people certified in SAP solutions to date, and growth of 30 per cent year on year, it has become more important for companies to have an effective way to verify and identify SAP-certified individuals.

The SAP Credential Manager site will allow the management of certification credentials along with benefits and self-service offerings for SAP registered consultants. Once a candidate passes an SAP certification exam, he or she can use self-service features in Credential Manager to view and track certification progress, receive re-certification notifications, publish verified credentials to employers and update their contact details.

The SAP Consultant Registry site will help clients to identify certified consultants in their area, according to their competencies.

Both services will be available free of charge.

The services have been introduced after a 2013 survey of SAP user group members by SAP Education found that 70 per cent of respondents stated that it is important to check whether SAP certifications from applicants are valid, and 80 per cent said they would like to be able to search for SAP-certified consultants via a public registry.

Per Högberg, executive secretary of the SAP Swedish User Group and charter member of the Certification Enablement and Influence Council, said, “It is essential for us as SAP customers to have a reliable benchmark for ensuring projects are delivered on budget and on time. The new credential verification and registry from SAP will give us a sound basis for validating that the people we work with are certified on the latest SAP innovations. It will give us more confidence to drive our projects forward.”

The first registry for SAP-certified consultants is now available in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, North America and the United Kingdom, with additional countries planned to be added in the next phase of the rollout.
