SAP extends relationship with Open Text

By Nathan Dukes

SAP, in a new agreement with Open Text, will offer customers the Open Text Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution.

DAM is a key component of the Open Text ECM Suite and a part of marketing resource management (MRM) and intellectual property management (IPM) capabilities of the SAP CRM application.

The agreement allows SAP to resell the enterprise DAM solution under the name ‘SAP Digital Asset Management by Open Text’.

The agreement is the third major step in a partnership between the two companies. SAP already offer their customers a number of other Open Text solutions, including Open Text Document Access, Open Text Archiving and Open Text Invoice Management solutions.

Additionally, the two companies announced last October an expansion of the agreement to allow SAP to also resell Open Text Extended.

“There is significant opportunity to help enterprises create more value and drive more influence from their existing content and to lower the costs associated with creating and managing new content,” said James Latham, chief marketing officer of Open Text.

“The continued growth of fast-moving digital media and online content make DAM solutions imperative.”

SAP said the DAM solution is “one of the industry’s leading DAM solutions as a part of an overall MRM and IPM solution with emphasis on enterprise marketing departments across every industry, as well as media industry publishing houses, entertainment firms and broadcasters”.

The DAM solution addresses key problems faced by marketing departments and organisations.

“With increased adoption of digital marketing channels, marketers need to develop higher volumes and more sophisticated digital assets that require collaboration with multiple departments,” SAP said.

“To address these problems, marketers are turning to digital asset management solutions for centralised, global visibility across all marketing assets and usages.”

SAP has been working with Open Text for more than 20 years, helping more than 3,000 SAP customers manage enterprise content.
