SAP Startup Forum launches in Australia

By Anne Widjaja

SAP Australia has announced that the global SAP Startup Forum will launch in Sydney on Friday 21 September 2012.

The invite-only Forum offers SAP startups the opportunity to use SAP HANA to develop solutions that can help solve real world problems. It will give businesses an opportunity to pitch their ideas to executives from SAP and SAP Ventures, as well as learn more about what SAP can offer them.

Local SAP teams come together to organise the event, which also doubles as a forum through which SAP can meet with innovative entrepreneurs from around the world.

The Sydney Startup Forum is the first step for Australian entrepreneurs to become part of the wider SAP Startup Forum, which aims to help companies with high growth potential scale their business as they grow.

SAP Ventures has announced US$155 million in funding to “identify and cultivate ground breaking startups” who can deliver high-quality solutions to help solve business problems with SAP HANA.

From each Startup Forum, six to 10 promising firms will be invited to join a development accelerator to build a Proof of Concept (PoC), before developing the actual product itself.

“Australians are great innovators, and launching this initiative enables startups to gain access to one of SAP’s most innovative solutions, SAP HANA,” Dereck Daymond, GM, database and technology Group, SAP said.

“We are really thrilled that we are able to bring this program to Sydney, and very much look forward to engaging with our local entrepreneurs as they look for ways to contribute to Australia’s economic future.”

Interested innovators can register via an https://saphana.wufoo.com/forms/sap-startup-focus-program-inquiry-form/ (choose Sydney as the preferred location).

If selected to participate in the Sydney Startup Forum, they will receive an official invitation to attend.
