SAP has been picked by SAP as a leader in advanced data visualisation in Forrester’s latest report on this market segment.
The report, titled The Forrester Wave: Advanced Data Visualisation Platforms Q3 2012, highlighted SAP’s advanced data visualisation (ADV) and BI functionality as a key reason for its leadership position.
According to the report’s 29-criteria evaluation of ADV vendors, SAP BusinessObjects offered users “excellent big data ADV”, and its in-memory capabilities place it ahead of others in the market.
“In-memory is the name of the ADV game these days when one is looking for answers at the speed of thought. Most other in-memory DBMS engines, however, have practical limitations of analysing no more than a few hundred GBs at a time,” the report stated.
“To address this limitation, SAP now offers a highly differentiated combination of [SAP] BusinessObjects Explorer and Visual Analytics with its top exploration and discovery capabilities and the SAP HANA in-memory appliance.”
The report also named Tableau Software, IBM, Information Builders, SAS, Tibco Software, and Oracle as leaders in the ADV platform space.
