It has recently been announced that Victoria University was chosen by SAP Australia and New Zealand (SAP ANZ) to hold the country’s first SAP Academy. The expanded partnership aims to assist Australians in gaining the necessary skills for future employment in the technology industry.
More than 150 globally recognised certificate courses are currently offered by German enterprise software giant SAP. It is a part of the multinational company’s commitment to ensuring that an organisation’s entire workforce stays prepared and skilled to thrive in today’s fast-paced markets. This is in addition to addressing the ever-evolving needs of a rising number of enterprises — both large and small — globally and locally.
In line with its partnership with Victoria University, an SAP Academy is set to be inaugurated in Australia where training for the SAP Certifications will be provided by SAP-certified instructors who have significant professional expertise in the field, as well as established network connections. Situated in the new Victoria University City Tower in the heart of the Melbourne Central Business District, Victoria University Vice-Chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker believes the country’s first SAP Academy will strengthen the university’s long-standing partnership with SAP ANZ.
“VU is a partnering institution. By collaborating with world-leading organisations like SAP, we enrich our educational offering and provide greater career and professional opportunities for learners,” Professor Shoemaker further shared.
“We are excited SAP has selected VU to deliver this globally recognised program. The partnership confirms VU’s reputation as a university that prepares and delivers industry-primed graduates,” he highlighted.
Victoria University Hosts First SAP Academy in Australia
According to the press release, the present SAP Next Gen-Lab at Victoria University, which was founded in 2018, will relocate to the VU City Tower and will support the newly unveiled SAP Academy. Masters students will continue to strengthen their technical capabilities as well as the soft skills required by the industry in the SAP Next Gen-Lab.
Furthermore, the SAP Academic Competence Centre (ACC) at Victoria University also supports the SAP University Alliances community in the Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) region, which consists of over 600 educational institutions across 18 countries, 30 SAP Next-Gen Labs, 15 SAP Next-Gen Chapters, and non-traditional educational organisations including not-for-profit groups and accelerators. The strategic agreement, which was revealed in 2019, is meant to foster the education of next-generation leaders through the use of the most up-to-date SAP innovation and technologies in universities across the region.
SAP ANZ President and Managing Director Damien Bueno stated that Victoria University has cutting-edge learning management technologies, as well as the specialised academics required to operate a compelling and relevant program to upskill Australians in a variety of fields and occupations. He added:
“Two years on from the pandemic, organisations across Australia — large and small — are grappling with a wide variety of challenges. Many businesses are looking to upskill their workforce and to recruit knowledgeable tech talent at a rapid pace, in order to grow and remain agile in the face of these challenges.”
Moreover, Bueno stated that upskilling Australians and building the country’s digital skills capability are important goals for technology providers, partners, and universities. In the end, he said that these efforts help to provide SAP customers and other organisations with the skilled workforce they need to accomplish their objectives, make adjustments constantly, and achieve sustainable growth.
Sharing more about the partnership with Victoria University, Bueno noted:
“We are excited to partner with Victoria University to offer our globally recognised certifications in a face-to-face learning environment. Our vision is that the SAP Academy will be used by our customers and our partners to fulfil their training needs and build the capabilities they need to succeed, both now and in the future.”
