ElectraNet appointed SAP service provider Systems and People to assist in building its permanent internal SAP support team.
The business challenge
ElectraNet, South Australia’s electricity transmission specialist, initiated an IT strategy to build an internal SAP capability, thereby reducing their dependency on their implementation partner.
ElectraNet had identified a need to hire five permanent SAP resources across a broad range of skills including SAP Basis, BW, Functional and Solution Architect roles. Systems and People responded to an ElectraNet RFT for SAP recruitment services to fulfil these requirements.
The solution
Systems and People presented a single vendor solution, under which engagement was on an exclusive retained basis, allowing for a more collaborative and partnership based solution. The benefits to ElectraNet under this model included: priority recruitment of their roles in the market, elimination of agency oversaturation and a reduction of the competitive impacts on the delivery of quality recruitment processes to their chosen recruitment partner.
Key stakeholders within ElectraNet’s HR and IT business units were consulted to define the preferred recruitment process and the skills-sets required. The delivery model for this major recruitment project was defined with timeframes and prioritisation of the roles. Hiring into Adelaide has its challenges based on the limited SAP resources existing in the state of South Australia. The diverse candidate sourcing solution executed by Systems and People helped overcome these challenges.
This took the form of a thorough ‘market mapping’ of candidates in Adelaide with the required skill-sets, an extensive national database search and networking coupled with an online advertising campaign using both traditional and social media tools.
The outcomes
All five permanent placements were successfully sourced and commenced work within a 12-week period. Four SAP resources were sourced from the local SA market and one SAP resource was sourced from interstate. ElectraNet now has enhanced internal capability to work in greater collaboration with their wider business to deliver SAP support and project services and reduce the total cost of ownership of their SAP asset. All candidates placed continue to enjoy a challenging and rewarding work environment, employed with ElectraNet.
