Cambridge University Press chooses partner for next phase of SAP rollout

By Freya Purnell
International publisher Cambridge University Press (CUP) has chosen Tech Mahindra as its partner for the next stage of its global SAP rollout.

CUP is moving from having 10 disparate procure-to-pay systems around the world – in locations including New York, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Singapore, Spain and Australia – to a single consolidated SAP platform.

In January last year, the company completed a successful implementation of SAP’s Finance and Controlling (FICO), Materials Management (MM) and Accounts Payable (AP) modules in the UK and US, which represent most of the publisher’s cost base.

The next phase of the program is the implementation of the sales and distribution model of SAP. This forms part of a three-year project to transform CUP’s back office systems and customer relations. The company is making the changes to adapt to the changing publishing environment, where digital publications will exist alongside their traditional print models.

On the partnership, CUP CIO Mark Maddocks said, “As we enter a new phase in delivering content to our customers, we need a partner with the depth and breadth of experience in SAP who can deliver. We’re pleased to partner with Tech Mahindra as we embark on a new phase of transformation at the Press.”

Vikram Nair, head – Europe, Tech Mahindra, said the company was delighted to be selected for the project.

“This project will ensure that Cambridge University Press has the systems to support the next phase of its evolution, and we look forward to working with them on this exciting project, which will deliver real benefits to the Press’s customers, partners and suppliers.”
