Deloitte acquires two New Zealand technology companies

Deloitte has acquired two of New Zealand’s leading technology implementation companies: Oracle implementation firm Asparona and SAP implementation firm Tango.

Through the transactions two new equity partners and over 120 people will be added to Deloitte, contributing to what is already the New Zealand’s largest consulting practice.

Deloitte chief executive, Thomas Pippos, said the acquisitions are a direct response to Deloitte focusing on differentiated growth opportunities.

Consulting leader Matthew Hitch said that acquiring Asparona and Tango gives Deloitte a greater ability to respond to the needs of a wider range of clients requiring technology implementation and related services.

“The acquisitions not only enhance our market leading position in technology implementation but also ensure that we are broadly equally weighted across both Oracle and SAP platforms,” he said.

Asparona owner Ian Rogers and Tango owner Phil Bratton will become equity partners in Deloitte, however both teams will continue to operate out of their current locations and under their current brands.

“We are excited to bring the intellectual property and experience of Deloitte’s local and global business to our client base,” said Rogers.

Bratton said that the acquisition creates a broader engagement model for the team to operate together with Deloitte in the market.

“We will have greater ability to jointly target large transformations as well as those in the mid-market, across a wider geographic spread,” he said.

According to the Deloitte press release, both Rogers and Bratton were upbeat about the effect the transactions will have on staff, in particular about providing them with increased opportunities for professional growth and career development.

The amount of the transactions was not disclosed.
