Former Newcrest Mining CIO Carl Duckinson has been appointed as interim CIO at transport and logistics company Toll Group, following the departure of previous CIO John Ansley in December.
A veteran of the SAP market, Duckinson has been executive director of IT management consultancy TACT since leaving Newcrest after 10 years in September 2014. Prior to this he worked with Avanade and BHP Billiton.
Ansley had resigned from Toll after 18 months in the role. Prior to his resignation, the company announced the cancellation of a major IT outsourcing project, known as the Global Technology Transformation Project.
The project would have seen some of Toll’s infrastructure, application development and support outsourced, but was canned after an internal review found it would not deliver the benefits expected.
In May last year, Toll Group was acquired by Japan Post.
Neither Duckinson nor Toll Group responded to requests for comment on the appointment.
