After ‘retiring’ the Chief Information Officer role in the context of a restructure of the company’s executive team in April, AGL Energy Limited has appointed a new Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Simon Moorfield will join AGL from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) on 11 January 2016 to take on the role.
At CBA, he was general manager, products and process, and acting CIO for the retail division. He also has global experience, having worked in Asia and the US.
Moorfield will report to Chief Financial Officer Brett Redman, who leads the Finance and Information Technology group.
“AGL’s world-class customer and technology platforms will be in very experienced hands and I am confident that Mr Moorfield has the expertise to position AGL successfully in the rapidly changing digital environment,” said Redman.
AGL’s restructure saw technology responsibility split between three executives. Redman took on responsibility for IT partnerships, technology services, business analytics, IT strategy and architecture, while Alistair Preston, executive general manager of organisational transformation, assumed responsibility for operational technology, and Stephen Mikkelsen, as executive general manager of energy market operations, oversees digital and customer experience.
The restructure saw previous CIO Owen Coppage leave AGL earlier this year.
