Hitachi Consulting has introduced a subscription-based service to provide modular, cost-effective access to SAP software hosted in its private hosted cloud, aimed squarely at solving the specific challenges of dynamic, discrete manufacturing industries including automotive, aerospace, defence and industrial machinery components.
Hitachi Consulting Enterprise Cloud for SAP for Industrial Machinery & Components (IM&C) is designed to bundle a manufacturing company’s entire IT environment (on-premises or SaaS), applications, integration to third-party systems and managed services, for one monthly price.
The global IT and management consulting arm of Hitachi Ltd said the new service can reduce the total cost of ownership by as much as 25 per cent when compared to full on-site implementation, by eliminating traditional IT overhead as well as both upfront and ongoing licensing costs.
“With our new solution geared specifically for discrete manufacturing, companies with the most intricate processes and fulfilment needs are now able to capture the operational benefits of SAP software in the cloud,” said Michael Driessen, senior vice president, Hitachi Consulting.
“We plan to deliver standardised modular offerings – think of them as building blocks – with fixed pricing. Think ‘small, medium and large offerings’ with the ability to tailor to each company’s unique needs,” said Jim Cole, senior vice president, cloud solutions, Hitachi Consulting.
The service incorporates more than 100 industry-specific scenarios encompassing inventory and forecasting control, production and process control, product development, procurement, supply chain management, manufacturing, environmental, health and safety, sales and service, quality management and compliance.
