HP launches Helion system to tackle cloud integration challenges

While enterprises are increasingly convinced by the advantages of cloud, for many, the success of a cloud initiative rests on their ability to integrate existing and new technology, according to Aman Dokania, vice president and general manager, HP Cloud Division, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific and Japan.

Seeking to address this issue, HP has now launched integrated enterprise cloud solution HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0, and a new HP ConvergedSystem 700 platform, which provides purpose-built infrastructure for CloudSystem 9.0.

“HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 allows organisations to leverage existing infrastructure and expertise, manage traditional applications as cloud services, while support modern application development and delivery methods necessary to transition to a hybrid infrastructure,” said Dokania.

Incorporating HP Helion OpenStack and the HP Helion Development Platform, CloudSystem 9.0 provides an enterprise-grade open source infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service offering. According to HP, customers can manage mixed public and private cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, HP Helion Public Cloud, HP Helion OpenStack and VMware, as well as use the platform to develop and deploy cloud-native applications using multiple development languages.

Featuring OpenStack software and Cloud Foundry APIs, HP Helion CloudSystem 9.0 can be deployed as standalone software supporting a multiple vendor hardware environment, but is also optimised for ConvergedSystem 700.
