In a bid to streamline its business-critical processes, innogy — a Czech energy company that focuses on photovoltaics, clean mobility, and energy management services — will migrate its entire SAP ERP platform to SAP S/4HANA.

Earlier last year, migrating to SAP S/4HANA became a hot topic in the tech industry after the German enterprise software giant announced a maintenance commitment for the intelligent enterprise resource planning (ERP) system until the end of 2040. This is in addition to the mainstream maintenance for core applications of SAP Business Suite 7 software until the end of 2027. Acknowledging the new deadline extension, Andy Do, Deputy Director and Head of Delivery at FPT Europe, stated:

“SAP made an announcement that the company will end the support for its on-premises solutions by 2027. Many companies, therefore, would want to migrate their system to S/4HANA in a timely manner.”

With this, IT services provider FPT continues to offer a wide range of services to businesses, including development, implementation, rollout, and Application Managed Service (AMS) for SAP S/4HANA. Headquartered in Vietnam, the company has 36,000 employees in 26 countries such as Japan, America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. In August 2020, FPT inaugurated its new office in Perth in an attempt to extend its presence in the Australasia region.

Underpinned by the company’s methodology and framework, it also assists organisations with other customised technology solutions that maximise the business value of SAP S/4HANA implementation. Recently added to its list of customers who are actively deploying the S/4HANA solution to reshape their business operations and become an intelligent enterprise is innogy, a leading energy provider in the Czech Republic owned by Hungarian energy group MVM.

“FPT has strong expertise and many years of experience in cloud migration as well as SAP migration projects, but the project with innogy Czech can be considered as one of the largest end-to-end S/4HANA migration projects for us. It offers FPT a great opportunity to position ourselves as a trusted partner in the field of SAP S/4HANA migration,” Do explained.

FPT Migrates innogy’s SAP ERP Platform to S/4HANA

As the project’s general contractor, FPT will assist innogy Czech in migrating their current system to SAP S/4HANA using a greenfield approach. FPT is in charge of the full project’s scope — from consulting to planning and implementation — with a goal to replace the current SAP ERP platform, version R/3 ERP Central Component 6.0 EhP 8, which is currently based on HANA DB2, with S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition.

Innogy Ceska republika a.s., innogy Zakaznicke sluzby, s.r.o., innogy Energie, s.r.o., innogy Energo, s.r.o., and innogy Energetika Plhov-Nachod, s.r.o. will all benefit from the aforementioned scope of work. Commenting on the company’s SAP ERP platform upgrade project, Miloš Dušek, Senior Manager of Corporate Applications at innogy Ceska republika, said:

“We entrusted FPT with the upgrade of our SAP system to S/4HANA because of the company’s expertise, technical capabilities, and years of experience in the industry. The project is of great strategic importance for innogy. FPT has proven to be a reliable strategic partner for us and has put together a qualified team to ensure that the first part of the project will be delivered successfully by the end of 2021.”

With over two decades of experience in providing services related to SAP, FPT combines a pool of more than 300 functional and 250 technical consultants to help implement and roll out SAP systems for its customers. Earlier this year, it also concluded a three-year contract with Essen-based energy company E.ON to provide AMS for three systems of E.ON’s ERP, including an SAP S/4HANA based one.
